Prerequisites (description)
Practical course devoted to the analysis and interpretation of English-language texts in the field of international relations, politics, diplomacy, and security. The course aims to develop the advanced language competences of doctoral students through work with authentic source texts and audiovisual materials (including academic articles, reports, policy documents, and expert analyses).
During the classes, doctoral students improve their ability to understand complex specialist texts, identify key concepts and arguments, and address selected elements of translating content from English into Polish, taking into account cultural, institutional, and terminological contexts.
The classes have a workshop character and are based on individual and group work, discussion of texts, and reflection on the role of language in the analysis and description of international phenomena. Regular reading of texts provided by the instructor for subsequent classes is essential.
