Intercultural communication 340-AG1-3AUDs

The aim of the course is to familiarize students with theoretical and practical aspects of intercultural communication, especially verbal and non-verbal behaviors dependent on the context, and to prepare them for the role of an intercultural mediator in an international professional context.

The course covers the following topics:
• Concepts of culture
• Theories of dimensions of culture
• Cultural prejudices
• Non-verbal communication
• Intercultural competence in a professional context
• Objectives, methods and techniques of intercultural training

(in Polish) Student zna podstawowe pojęcia z zakresu kulturoznawstwa oraz posiada umiejętność konstruowania ćwiczeń językowych.

Assessment methods: self-assessment and peer assessment, presentation
The condition for receiving a credit for the subject is:
• Attendance and active participation in classes (2 unexcused absences are allowed)
• Preparation of a presentation on the dimensions of culture or non-verbal behaviors determined by culture
