Classwork and homework will include the following:
- critical reading of academic texts
- summarising
- use and citation of sources
- writing an abstract
- writing critical analyses
- working on the register of language

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the fundamentals of academic essay writing skills, paragraph content organization, essay structure, and writing with consistency and respect for English grammar and punctuation. In addition, students will practice various writing forms such as newspaper article, review, formal letter and essays. |

The final grade will be based on attendance, active class participation, partial grades, and project and homework assignments prepared by students. Attendance in class is mandatory. One unexcused absence per semester is allowed. Excused absences (e.g. doctor's note) should be shown no later than one week after the absence. In case of longer or prolonging absence (more than two classes) the student is obliged to contact the teacher during this time. |
