Through a variety of interactive exercises, including text analysis, learning new vocabulary, speaking, and writing, this 20-hour course will put a special emphasis on enhancing students' English language proficiency and cultural awareness. We will discuss the relationship between language and media, including social media, movies, TV shows, and newspapers and magazines. At the same time, some of the topics we will cover may contradict your preconceptions of what "language" and "media" are. |

Term 2022:
Course credit will be based on the evaluation of the final project work - an analysis of a chosen media (TV shows, music, etc.) based on the theory discussed during the course. The final grade will be based on attendance, active participation in class and project work prepared by the students. Attendance in class is mandatory. One unexcused absence per semester is allowed. Unexcused absences (e.g. doctor's note) should be shown no later than one week after the absence time finishes. In case of a longer or prolonging absence (more than two missed classes) the student is obliged to contact the instructor during this time. |
