History and Culture of Great Britain - selected issues 340-AS1-2ECHZ
The lecture aims to introduce the key figures in British history. The lecture will help students understand the significance of the role of individual agents in a broad historical perspective, and at the same time will point out the social, economic, political, and cultural factors conditioning the attitudes and actions of selected key figures over the centuries. The lecture is structured chronologically. Individual lectures are devoted to the most important events and the individuals involved in them.

1) Students can characterize the four parts of the United Kingdom; they know the historical processes conditioning Britain's present state.
2) Student is able to chronologically arrange major events in British history, to explain their causes and consequences.
3) Student understands relations between historical processes and contemporary events, understands cultural and social differences and their consequences.

Assessment criteria
In order to receive credit for the lecture, students are required to take a written exam. The exam consists of open-ended questions.
