Students know and understand:
W1 - the phonological system of the English language and selected processes within it - KP6_WG1
W2 - basic terminology used in the phonetic and phonological description of the language - KP6_WG4
W3 - connections and differences between phonetics and phonology of the language, as well as other related fields KP6_WG1, KP6_WG4
Students are be able to:
U1 - analyse and interpret source/theoretical texts discussed in class - KP6_UW7;
U2 - Formulate arguments and justify his/her standpoint in discussions on topics discussed in class - KP6_UW1, KP6_UK4
U3 - Use proper scientific terminology concerning phonetics and phonology - KP6_UK1.
Students are ready to:
K 1 - critically evaluate the knowledge possessed concerning phonetics and phonology and recognise the importance of this knowledge in solving cognitive and practical problems - KP6_KK1, KP6_KK2
Assessment criteria
A prerequisite for receiving credit for the course (grade) is that the student obtains at least 51% of both activities:
- participation in discussions 40% of the final mark;
- a written test 60% of the final mark.
Grades:
5 = 91% - 100%
4+ = 81% - 90%
4 = 71% - 80%
3+ = 61% - 70%
3 = 51% - 60%
