The aim of the course is to give students the instruction on how to write a research paper in literary studies. The preparation includes a number of different stages: writing summaries, defining the notions of plagiarism and paraphrasis, and formatting the text (MLA and Chicago Style).

How to assess summary/paraphrase. Criteria:
Relevance of Content - 9 points
Processing – 9 points
Cohesion & Coherence – 9 points
Language Accuracy (Punctuation included) – 9 points
/poor 0, sufficient 3, good 6, very good 9/
Max: 36 pkt.
Grade:
Lack of formatting - Failed
0-17 points - Failed
0 points for any component – Failed (irrespective of how good other components are)
18 points - Sufficient
19-31 points - Good
32-36 points - Very Good
How to assess the students’ research paper. Criteria:

20 – 29 points -Sufficient
30 - 39 points - Good
40 – 45 points - Very Good
There is only one chance to make up for the failed paper.
All the papers from the group are zipped together and send to the teacher as one file.
