PEL - integrated skills 2 340-AS2-1PJS2

Students will be given work encompassing all four skills. In addition to reading, including press, academic and literary texts, students will practice writing, listening, including understanding of various types of text, inter alia fragments of radio or TV programs, films and clips, and reacting to their content, students will practice expressing their thoughts on abstract topics, on subjects discussed during classes, and topics important to the student and selected by him/her.
Subskills such as grammar issues will be addressed as and when necessary.

EK - knowledge 1. The student has a structured knowledge of vocabulary and grammar in the subjects covered by the course. K_W13 K_W04 K_W02 EK - skills 1. The student is able to use English on C1 level independently and fluently according to the European System of Language Description (CEFR), using a variety of lexical structures that are grammatically different and phonetically correct. K_U08 K_U09 2. The student understands most spoken language in different areas of life. In principle, he understands every interlocutor, although he may ask for confirmation of explanation of details, especially when the interlocutor uses a non-standard accent or an unknown dialect. K_U08 3. The student is able to prepare longer academic statements on their own (in relation to the future MA thesis). K_U02 K_U11 K_U13 4. The student is able to use the information contained in other texts in compliance with copyright laws and maintaining all technical requirements. K_U01 K_U03 K_U07 K_U10 EK - competences 1. Learning outcomes

It is expected that students' general English will be improved by addressing specific areas of English that are known to pose difficulty.

Assessment criteria

The top score to be obtained in one semester is 100 points (final grade 5).
Grading scale is as follows:
96- 100 = 5,
90- 95 = 4.5,
80- 89 = 4,
70- 79 = 3.5,
50- 69 = 3

There will be no resits of quizzes, tests and written tasks unless the student can provide a doctor's note or another document justifying their absence.

THERE IS NO FINAL EXAM. Assessment is continuous. Points may be awarded during each class. Participation in class discussion/conversation is mandatory for receiving a final grade.

Students obtain points for their learning achievement as shown in: tests and quizzes; managing lexical tasks; reading with understanding; speaking on a subject of student’s own choice (PRESENTATION); engagement with classroom activities (CP); ability to express opinions, ideas and suggestions as well as ask relevant questions and form appropriate responses; using appropriate register; using and developing the skills of mediation and managing conversation

The final grade at the end of the academic year will be the average of the grades obtained at the end of the first and second semester.
