Learning outcomes
KNOWLEDGE
The student has a structured knowledge of vocabulary and grammar on the subject covered by the course.
SKILLS
The student has language skills at the level ensuring communication in the country where the target language is spoken and in direct contact with the users of this language. S/he can express himself / herself fairly fluently and spontaneously using appropriate phrasing.
The student is able to use reading strategies to determine the type, subject, purpose and style of the text and by adapting these strategies to different types of texts (instructional, press, official, literary, and scientific). S/he can understand a variety of texts from different areas of life.
The student understands complex statements. After listening to spoken communication, the student is able to extract the main idea, find detailed information, as well as recognize the expressed opinions and the context of the spoken text.
SOCIAL COMPETENCES
The student is able to work in a group, make decisions, negotiate, identify and solve problems in the conditions of multicultural communication.

Assessment criteria
Students are assessed based on the following criteria:
- active participation in classes
- spoken language comprehension tests
- written language comprehension tests
- vocabulary and grammar tests
- individual oral statement
Assessment is continuous. Points are awarded during each class.
Writing tasks will only be graded once. There will be no resits of written work unless the student can provide a doctor's note.
The student obtains points for their engagement with classroom activities, managing lexical tasks, ability to express opinions, ideas and suggestions and speaking on a subject of their choice; precise formulating and developing thoughts, asking questions, managing conversation, forming appropriate responses, using appropriate register, and the ability to use and develop mediation skills.
