History of the French Literature: Medival Ages to 18th Century 340-FP1-1HLFS
The Student learns about the French literature. We start with The Strasbourg sermonts and the Cantilena of St. Eulalia;
then we pass to the chanson de geste (Chanson de Roland); Tristan and Yseut (as the court literature);
follows Rabelais with the Renaissance ideas, as well as Michel de Montaigne;
the XVIIth century is discussed on the basis of the theatre of Racien, Corneille, and Molière;
the XVIIIth century is related on the basis of the philosophy of the Lumières.
