Assessment criteria
Observation and assessment of activity during classes, assessment of oral presentation, evaluation
project work, student self-assessment, oral statement, written work, test, presentation, exam after semester IV.
Credit for graded exercises in the winter and summer semesters (based on partial grades collected during the entire semester), examination (consists of a written and oral part) in the summer session.
The condition for admission to the exam is to obtain a positive grade in completing the exercises.
The semester grade is awarded on the basis of grades for written work (essays, dictations, grammar test, quizzes) and on the basis of grades for oral presentations (including homework). The assessment also takes into account students' participation in classes (systematicity and activity).
Three absences are allowed per semester. Absences of 4-15 are counted towards consultations. Obtaining more than 15 absences does not qualify the student to pass the course (the absence limit is not taken into account in the case of illness - a medical excuse is required and must be provided no later than a week after returning to classes). Participation in the announced inspection works is obligatory regardless of the use/unuse of the limit of allowed absences. Control work that is subject to compulsory improvement must be completed within two weeks from the date on which the entire group wrote. In the case of a long-term illness, this time is agreed individually with the teacher, but work cannot be improved later than two weeks after the student returns to classes.
Decision No. 3/2024 of the Dean of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Białystok of September 3, 2024 on the rules for justifying absences from physical education classes and other forms of classes, tests/exams at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Białystok also remains in force.
The student is required to work systematically throughout the semester. The semester grade for classes is based on partial grades. For this reason, "mass" improvement of grades at the end of the semester is not allowed. The minimum positive grade (3.0) in the semester examination is obtained by a student whose average partial grade is higher than 2.7.
Compulsory corrections of control work are subject to tests in vocabulary, spelling and dictation? essays and grammar tests. Each student may write a given review paper a maximum of three times.
Grades for homework and classwork are not subject to correction. Obtaining individual failing grades in this area does not prevent you from receiving credit at the end of the semester, but these grades are included in the average of all grades in the semester.
The exam consists of two parts: a lexical-grammatical-spelling test + a short written statement) and an oral answer.
Evaluation according to criteria.
If circumstances arise that make it impossible to conduct the exam in a traditional way (e.g. pandemic), the form of the exam is changed; in such situations, the exam is in written form and consists of 1 part (lexical-grammatical-spelling test + short written statement).
The grading scale is in accordance with the Study Regulations.
