Business Communication 340-RK1-2KMB
The aim of this course is to teach students the formal language, its lexical and morphological forms as well as syntactic structures. Students learn different ways of business communication, such as: business conversations, meetings, press conferences, public speeches, presentations, self-presentations, etc.; they learn language strategies and techniques related to establishing contacts, gaining potential customers and conducting negotiations. In addition, students get to typical features of the business environment in selected countries (e.g. Germany, Japan, Russia).
Course description:
- terms and phrases used at a business meeting, making acquaintances, making business telephone calls, negotiations,
- nominative units as the basic terms used to describe economic status, marketing, the legal basis of entrepreneurship, the economic activity of the company, the conclusion of business transactions and the drawing up of business documents;
- specific nature of business activity in different countries.

Assessment criteria
Continuous assessment (oral and written homework, correct grammatical reading, correct reading of dialogues and texts).
Test of achievement, evaluation of class activity, group work, project, presentation.
Credit after each semester, based on the grades received.
Students may have one unexcused absence per semester. The other missed classes must be passed during the tutor`s office hours. Missing more than 30% of classes results in failing to get credit for the semester.
