Social Pedagogy examines the relationships between individuals, social environments, and educational processes. The course explores the origins and development of social pedagogy, its key concepts, methods, and areas of intervention. Students analyze major social environments such as family, local community, peer groups, and institutions, with particular attention to social risks including poverty, unemployment, migration, social exclusion, illness, and disability.
The course emphasizes preventive, compensatory, and supportive actions, community-based work, social animation, and the role of non-governmental organizations. Ethical dimensions of social pedagogy, intercultural competence, and cooperation within local communities are essential components of the curriculum.

After completing the course, the student:
Knowledge
•understands key concepts, theories, and traditions of social pedagogy;
•knows the characteristics of major educational and social environments;
•recognizes contemporary social problems and risks affecting individuals and communities.

•analyzes social and educational situations using concepts of social pedagogy;
•designs basic community-based and educational interventions;
•communicates effectively with individuals and groups from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.

•appreciates the role of social pedagogy in building social cohesion and social justice.

Assessment methods:
•written final exam (open-ended questions);
•continuous assessment of participation and class activities;
•evaluation of group project / written assignment.

•minimum 55% required to pass the exam;
•final grade based on exam results and coursework performance;
•active participation in practical classes is mandatory.
