Prerequisites (description)
The course aims to present the basic ideas of statistical physics. The point of departure is the quantum description of multiparticle systems and the postulate of equal probabilities of microstates corresponding to a given macroscopic state. Having introduced the basic statistical ensembles, the course will focus on the properties of ideal quantum gases at low temperatures.
