Introduction to Electronics 390-FK1-1WDE
Type of study profile: general academic
Form of study: full-time
Course type: compulsory (Physics Applications Module)
Field and discipline of science: Technical Sciences, Electronics
Year of study / semester: 1st year / 1st semester, Physics
Prerequisites: As this is an introductory course in electronic circuit design, no prior knowledge beyond high school/technical school level is required.
Number of hours and instructional activities: Laboratory 30 hours
Teaching methods: conducting laboratory exercises, measuring physical quantities, discussion of the obtained results, consultations
ECTS credits: 2
Student workload balance: participation in laboratory exercises (30 hours), participation in consultations (15 hours), student's self-study at home
Quantitative indicators: student workload related to activities requiring direct participation of the academic teacher - 30 hours, 2 ECTS; student workload related to independent work - 15 hours, 1 ECTS.
Laboratory classes:
The material covered in the laboratory classes is strictly practical, without in-depth discussion of the internal structure and operation principles of the components used (this will be covered in subsequent semesters). The objective of the laboratory exercises is to familiarize students with the operation of individual electronic circuits, their characteristics, properties, and the correct operation of measuring instruments.

Assessment criteria
Assessment Criteria and Grading Policy:
Students perform laboratory exercises and earn points during classes – either 1 or 2 points per session (not every class is graded; for example, the first session is not graded, and the final session is a practical examination worth +/-5 points). A maximum of 16 points can be earned from regular classes (12 lab sessions worth 1 point each, and 2 lab sessions worth 2 points each). The final class is dedicated to a practical examination summarizing the entire semester, where a student can gain or lose up to 5 points (i.e., receive plus/minus 5 points). The maximum total number of points to be earned is 21.
Grading Scale:
0 to < 10.5 points: failing (ndst / 2.0) [50%]
< 12.6 points: satisfactory (dst / 3.0) [60%]
< 14.7 points: satisfactory plus (dst+ / 3.5) [70%]
< 16.8 points: good (db / 4.0) [80%]
< 18.9 points: good plus (db+ / 4.5) [90%]
>= 18.9 points: very good (bdb / 5.0)
Attendance Policy:
Attendance is mandatory. A student with three or more unexcused absences will fail the course (will not receive credit).
