The objective of this course is to present the main strategic dilemmas currently faced by select Asian states. The group will discuss texts by various Asian analysts and academics that present these dilemmas – and, as much as possible, texts that refer to current issues faced by these counties. The course will delve into the strategic dilemmas of these states:
- South Korea (Republic of Korea)
- Japan
- China (PRC)
- Taiwan (Republic of China)
- Singapore
- Vietnam
- Indonesia
- Malaysia
- Australia
- India
- and Pakistan

Assessment criteria
Students may miss no more than two classes each without justification. At the end of the course, each student must write a term paper.

The course will primarily make use of publications of various think tanks on the subject of foreign policy od select Asian Studies.
