Teaching Methods:
Lectures: conversational lecture with elements of discussion, problem-based learning, multimedia presentations, analysis of source texts, discussion of ethnographic case studies.
Exercises: work with texts, moderated discussion, ethnographic methods (participant observation, interviews, field notes), autoethnography

Knowledge – the graduate knows and understands:
KP6_WG10 – research problems in social cognitive science and cognitive philosophy
KP6_WG11 – human activity as a cognitive system capable of creating social structures and institutions
KP6_WG15 – major philosophical concepts of mind, cognition, and communication
KP6_WG18 – philosophical and anthropological assumptions of psychology and psychiatry
KP6_WK3 – the (multi)disciplinary nature of cognitive science and the specificity of philosophy as a platform for interdisciplinary research
KP6_WK4 – research methods used in the study of cognition and communication, with particular emphasis on philosophical analysis

Skills – the graduate is able to:
KP6_UW2 – apply knowledge and research tools from cognitive science and communication to predict and explain human social behavior
KP6_UW3 – analyze psychological variables in the course of cognitive and communicative processes
KP6_UW9 – perform logical analysis of linguistic statements with regard to their cognitive and communicative value
KP6_UK1 – use various codes in social and intercultural communication

Assessment Conditions:
- Active participation in class discussions and practical exercises – 50%
- Final project (choice of one) – 50%:
- A: Mini-ethnography (e.g., 4 weeks of observation, field journal, theoretical analysis)
- B: Autoethnography (analysis of one’s own cultural practice, reflective essay)
- C: Public anthropology (podcast/film/exhibition/zine + methodological and ethical reflection)
- D: Critical review of an ethnographic work (book or documentary film, essay)
Lecture: Written or Oral Exam
Exam Format:
Open-ended questions requiring synthesis of knowledge from lectures and required readings. Students choose 3–4 questions from a pool of 6–8.
(Example Exam Questions: Compare Malinowski’s functionalism with Lévi-Strauss’s structuralism. What are the implications of both approaches for understanding culture? Discuss the concept of cultural relativism and its limits in the context of contemporary anthropological debates. How can anthropology serve as a tool for critiquing capitalism? Refer to at least two authors from the course. How does posthumanist anthropology change the understanding of agency and subjectivity?)
