Publications and presentations in exact and natural sciences 290-DP3-1PAP

Some introductory classes are teacher-led. During these classes, the teacher discusses a set of tips for creating effective presentations and writing good research papers.
Then, to practice using these guidelines, students are required to prepare a presentation of a single research article related to their dissertation. During the presentation, students, in addition to presenting the main results of the work, must also discuss whether the work is well written or has some shortcomings.
After presentation there is the discussion with audience.

W cyklu 2025:

There are 15 hours of seminar classes. So all together we have 7.5 of 1.5 h meetings.
During the first two classes, the instructor reminds students of the principles of preparing a good presentation and the principles of writing a proper scientific paper. For the next classes, students are expected to prepare a 45-minute presentation of a publication in the field in which they plan to conduct research for their doctorate. The presentation should include general introduction to field and then referee the paper. After the presentation, there is a discussion on the quality of the presented paper and the quality of the given presentation.
This part will take 7 classes. Last 0.5 classes will be covered by summary and presenting grades.

It is assumed that doctoral students had classes in methods of presenting scientific results during their first or second cycle of studies.

Kryteria oceniania

The grade will be the average of the grades for presentation skills and discussion skills after your own presentation and the presentations of others.
