Year II – Semester I

Number of teaching hours: 15 hours of practical language classes (seminar/workshop)

Student workload: attendance at classes – 15 hours; preparation for classes and the final assessment – 13 hours; participation in consultations related to the course – 2 hours. Total: 30 hours.

Quantitative indicators: student workload related to activities requiring direct participation of the teacher – 17 hours; student workload not requiring direct participation of the teacher – 13 hours.

Prerequisites: English language proficiency at B2 level.

Teaching methods: instructional, practical, and active learning methods, including explanation, subject-specific exercises, educational games, discussion, work with learning materials, and presentations, in accordance with the principle of providing diverse forms of student engagement and motivation based on Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

Założenia (opisowo)

The course is designed to develop students’ communicative competence in English, with particular emphasis on speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in professional and academic contexts. The course focuses on the analysis and interpretation of specialised texts, as well as on the systematic development and application of discipline-specific terminology and professional vocabulary.

Efekty kształcenia

Graduates are able to:
1. Take part in communication on specialist subjects to the extent enabling active participation in international scientific community - SD_UK01

3. Plan and carry out individual and team research projects or creative undertakings, within the international community as well - SD_UO01, SD_UO02
4. Speak a foreign language at the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages to the extent enabling participation in
international scientific and professional community - SD_UK04

Kryteria oceniania

Assessment: Evaluation of presentations, written assignments, and students’ participation and engagement in class.

Final assessment: Graded credit upon completion of the third semester.

Due to the specific nature of the course, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) systems for linguistic and stylistic correction of texts, as well as the use of machine translation for translating texts into or from a foreign language, is not permitted.
