Introduction to Statistics (using SPSS) 480-ERS-1ITS
The course covers:
*Introduction to statistics in sociological research
*Types of variables and levels of measurement
*Descriptive statistics (mean, median, mode, standard deviation)
*Data visualization (charts, graphs, frequency tables)
*Cross-tabulations and measures of association
*Correlation analysis
*Introduction to hypothesis testing (t-tests, chi-square tests)
*Basics of linear regression
*Introduction to SPSS: data entry, coding, and variable transformation

Kryteria oceniania
Students will be assessed through a final data analysis project. Working individually or in small groups, students will apply statistical methods learned during the course to analyze a sociological dataset using SPSS. The project will include:
-Formulating a sociological research question
-Selecting appropriate variables and statistical techniques
-Running analyses in SPSS
-Interpreting and presenting results in a short written report
-This practical evaluation emphasizes applied skills and critical thinking in sociological research.
