Introduction to Polish animation 430-ERA-1IPA
The aim of the classes is to familiarize students with selected themes of the theory and history of animated film. During the course, a wide range of perspectives will be discussed - historical and contemporary, analog and digital techniques, with particular emphasis on cultural and institutional contexts. This is to help understand the role that animated film and animators play in the broadly understood contemporary cinematography, within the visual arts, and in particular taking into account the aspects of post-production and color changes in audiovisual culture.

The graduate:
K_W01, K_W09: knows and understands the role of film animation in the process of enculturation, shaping
individual identity and the crystallization of the cultural image of the world in society.
K_W01, K_W09: knows and understands the most important theories of animated film and the cultural impact of the film,
they also have an elementary knowledge of the history and typology of animated cinema genres
K_K01: knows and understands the scope of his knowledge and skills, understands the need to constantly develop them and knows how to do it
K_K06: knows and understands the animation techniques and can distinguish their many forms
1. exercises - continuous assessment, activity, knowledge of assigned source texts and fulfilling assigned tasks
analytical tests, passing with a grade on the basis of a prepared presentation of a selected issue
The issues of film animation cover a number of issues related to the film studies and aesthetic discourse, given the
their wider functioning in the socio-cultural context, with particular emphasis on cultural analyses. List
of the discussed topics is an expression of a deep reflection on the historical role of film animation, at the same time taking into account its
evolution starting from earlier aspects of cultural transformations and mediation to contemporary functioning in today
ethnographic and documentary landscape. The availability of film animation for people with special needs is discussed
needs, including people with disabilities.

Verification:
Attendance, active participation in classes, statements based on the reading of texts from the reading list of other available sources of knowledge about animation, oral exam with at least a satisfactory grade, two unexcused absences are possible
