Learning outcomes
- Students get to know the basic terminology and research methods used in historical linguistics.
- Students acquire knowledge concerning the changes English underwent in different historical periods.
- Students learn to use the terminology and paradigms used in historical linguistics.
- Students are able to carry out a morphological and syntactic analysis of historical texts.
- Students are able to use their knowledge concerning the history of English in their professional career (e.g. as teachers of English).
Assessment criteria
The final grade is based on the results of a written test.
