Field and discipline of study: field of humanities, discipline: linguistics, literary studies.
Year of studies/semester: year II, semester 4.
Prerequisites: introduction to linguistics, introduction to literary studies, basics of lexicology, analysis of a literary work, information technology, practical Russian language learning part 1.
Number of hours of teaching divided into forms of teaching: 15 hours, proseminar.
Didactic methods: prolonged student observation, student oral statements, discussion, problem method, work with source material, editing a fragment of a scientific text, presentation.
ECTS credits: 2.
Balance of student workload:
- participation in classes: 15 h (0.5 ECTS),
- preparation for classes, including the study of source literature: 18 h (0.9 ECTS),
- participation in consultations: 2 h (0.1 ECTS),
- preparation of scientific text: 15 h (0.5 ECTS).
Quantitative indices:

Learning outcomes
KP6_WG1 - the student knows and understands linguistic phenomena, processes, and systems, as well as the theories that explain the relationships between them;
KP6_WG3 - the student knows and understands literary works, phenomena, and processes, as well as the theories that explain their cultural background and the relationships between them;
KP6_WG4 - the student knows and understands the general terminology and the basic apparatus of research methodology in linguistics;
KP6_WG6 - the student knows and understands the methods of analysis and interpretation of texts and other cultural productions of a given linguistic area within the framework of selected traditions and linguistic theories;
KP6_WG9 - the student knows and understands basic conceptual apparatus for describing cultural phenomena important for analysing language and the process of communication;
KP6_WK1 - the student knows and understands the problems and challenges related to language and communication, as well as their connections to the fundamental dilemmas of contemporary civilization;
KP6_WK3 - the student knows and understands the principles of the protection of industrial property and copyright;
KP6_UW1 - the student is able to formulate and solve complex problems, selecting adequate methods and tools with the use of knowledge in the fields of linguistics and translation studies;
KP6_UW4 - the student is able to carry out critical analysis and interpretation of various cultural artifacts using philological methods that make it possible to assess their significance within the historical and cultural process;
KP6_UW7 - the student is able to properly select sources and information coming from them in the field of linguistics and to evaluate, critically analyse and synthesise this information;
KP6_UK5 - the student is able to use the foreign language of their field, both spoken and written, at the C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages;
KP6_KK1 - the student is ready to critically evaluate his/her knowledge;
KP6_KK2 - the student is ready to acknowledge the importance of knowledge in solving cognitive and practical problems.
Assessment criteria
Credit by assessment. The assessment takes into account the student's activity and preparation for the classes, the evaluation of the prepared work plans and outlines, the evaluation of the edited fragments of the scientific text.
Attendance in class is compulsory. Credit for absences in accordance with the UwB Rules of Study and departmental regulations.
